Compaq portable computers

physical object

2013.4.1

Description

The Compaq Portable was developed by the Compaq Computer Corporation and released in March 1983 as a compatible competitor to the famous IBM PC. The luggable suitcase form and removable keyboard gave it a distinct design, but unlike the modern view of portable computing it had no battery and could only run when plugged in.
